Solent Group of Advanced Motorcyclists Wins Road Safety Award

The Solent Advanced Motorcyclists Group of the IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) based in Southampton has won the IAM Group Achievement Award.

This nation-wide competition is open to over 200 IAM groups and the award goes to the group which was considered to have contributed most towards safety and the principles of the IAM during the past 12 months.

The specially engraved glass trophy and a cheque for £1000 was presented to Godwin Calafato, a Committee Member of the Solent Motorcyclists IAM Group, at the IAM National Conference on 6 October 2007.

IAM National Group Committee Chairman Mike Lyne said: “I am delighted that we were able to recognise the achievement of the Solent Advanced Motorcyclists Group and allow that group to continue their valuable work promoting the IAM in its quest to improve road safety.”
