Sunday 22 February ride report

Billed as “turn up and decide for yourselves” we found ourselves at Ower in two groups, one with Lou and John Goodson off to Warminster, the other led by yours truly being a jolly for coffee at Wareham.

Routing across the Forest our subgroup of 5 was down to 4 when Neil peeled off at Fordingbridge not because the Beemer couldn't manage it but he had other duties. Once clear of the 40’s our team of Mike on the Blackbird bringing up the rear, Mike on the Honda V-tech 800, Mark on his SV650 and with my Sprint in the lead, enjoyed a traffic free ride through Cranborne and Wimborne.  Missing a filter left meant a quick u-turn to get back on track around Wimborne and I can’t blame Gertie Garmin this time.

The restaurant on the quay at Wareham offered fine coffee and muffins (after moving the bikes onto the cobbles when we discovered bikes don’t go free and the wardens abound on Sundays – nice!)

A straight run back to the M27 for those due to be home by 2pm worked out well and rounded off the trip at a tad under the 100 miles on good dry roads. I hope the Warminster trip worked out as well – sometimes no pre-planning is best!
